A summer that smells of roots, dreams and pride. The XXXVI edition of the Festival delle Ville Vesuviane lights up the heart of the Miglio d'Oro, transforming its architectural jewels into lively, vibrant, contemporary stages. From 4 to 27 July, among the majestic geometries of Villa Campolieto, Villa Vannucchi, Villa Mascolo, Palazzo Vallelonga and Palazzo Bisignano, a rich program unfolds, designed to speak to memory and the future.
The theme chosen this year – The Age of the Golden Mile: Roots and Identity – is not just an evocative title, but a precise statement: telling the story of the territory through beauty, talent, words and sound. A project that intertwines artistic visions and heritage, bringing great names in music, theater and dance to the stage.
The official presentation was held in Villa Campolieto with an institutional and artistic audience that underlined, without rhetoric, how the festival has become a cornerstone of Campania culture. President Gennaro Miranda spoke of “a beating heart that unites past and present”, while the artistic director Bruno Tabacchini launched a clear warning: “To move forward, you have to know how to look back.”
It starts on July 4th with Mario Biondi in concert, then space for a Hamlet in Neapolitan, to Edipo Re, to the tributes to Pino Daniele and Camilleri, to popular theater, to jazz that tells tales, to dance that reinvents Shakespeare and Pulcinella. Guests include: Luca Lazzareschi, Simona Molinari, Francesco Paolantoni, Peppe Barra, Maurizio De Giovanni, Massimo Andrei and Cloris Brosca.
Every evening a journey, every show a key to reopen the doors of the Villas not only as monuments, but as spaces inhabited by life. The Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane thus returns these homes to their original vocation: places of meeting, vision and cultural resistance. In an era that risks flattening everything, the Festival confirms itself as a powerful, necessary and profoundly identifying gesture.
